[Breakfast, Lunch, and] Dinner in Denver

When Ryan was signing up for the bar exam, everyone at work recommended he go on a vacation after the exam and before starting his associate position. We played around with the idea of Disney world (but didn't want to spend more than we would on a honeymoon). Then we planned to go to Nashville to see Ryan's parents but they were out of town for the weekend. And since we will be able to go to Nashville plenty of times, we decided to save that!

Ryan had talked about going to Denver with me since we first started dating. We had both been to Colorado as kids and had really fond memories of those trips so that's what we decided on!

Since we didn't rent a car and were only there for about 30ish hours, we weren't able to do much exploring outside of downtown so we will be back! We essentially ate our way through the city.  We started at The Fractured Prune! I was so stinking happy that my favorite donut place in Ocean City was also randomly in  Denver! They are made to order and melt in your mouth. They are a donut lover (like myself)'s dream come true. I got the carnival donut and the strawberry princess.  And let's just say, that after our visit there, Ryan not only wants to visit Ocean City but he would be happy to move there!
After the donuts, we decided to stop at the Denver Botanical Gardens on our walk to the hotel and it just so happened to be the day the corpse flower bloomed! I don't pretend that I knew this was a thing before last week but it was pretty amazing (and smelled pretty bad).  We also saw some breathtaking gardens. I've never seen lily pads that looked so picturesque before.

On our walk back to the hotel, we stumbled across VooDoo Doughnuts. You can't walk by that place and not go in! So we figured donuts for BREAKFAST and LUNCH seemed like the perfect way to spend vacation. If you were wondering, they definitely couldn't be compared to The Fractured Prune BUT they were equally delicious.
After VooDoo, we walked back to the hotel to rest and watch the olympics. We ended up out for pizza at Patxi's per another blogger's recommendation and we loved it. Then, we took a LITTLE nap before meeting Ryan's friend from college and his girlfriend at PeaksLounge  (supposedly the best view of Denver). We had delicious drinks and then crashed hard right after. Apparently, all that delicious food is exhausting!

Sunday was already our last day so we took the morning easy, just soaking in the fact that it was our first true vacation together, and then went out to brunch (of course).  We ended up at the Denver Biscuit Co. where I had the most insane biscuit bacon cinnamon roll. I've never eaten anything like that before and will definitely be drooling over these pictures often.
We had such a great (and way too short) weekend! We are so excited for our next vacation (HONEYMOON)!  This week could potentially be a big one---Ryan is going to look at an apartment today that I fell in love with on Friday! Wish us luck!!
